Hilton Must Face Patent Claim Over Reservation System

Law360, Los Angeles (July 18, 2013, 6:18 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Thursday ruled that Hilton Resorts Corp. must face a claim that its online application for booking hotel rooms directly infringed technology company Ameranth Inc.'s patents, while at the same time tossing the latter company's claims of indirect, induced and willful infringement.

U.S. District Judge Janis L. Sammartino said in Thursday's order that Ameranth, which sells Internet and wireless systems for the hospitality industry, adequately pleaded that Hilton directly infringed three of its patents by creating and maintaining a hotel reservation system...
