Chevron Dodges Calif. Claims In 'Hot Fuel' MDL

Law360, New York (July 22, 2013, 1:52 PM EDT) -- Chevron Corp. on Friday dodged claims in proposed California class actions belonging to multidistrict litigation in Kansas alleging energy firms and fuel retailers sold gas without accounting for temperature expansion.

U.S. District Judge Kathryn H. Vratil granted the San Ramon, Calif.-based oil giant’s motion for summary judgment, ruling that that the California plaintiffs did not sufficiently support their argument that California law bars the sale of fuel in the state without disclosing the effects of temperature expansion on gasoline.
