EU Scolds 11 States For Weak Anti-Bias Laws

Law360, New York (February 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission has given 11 member states two months to bring their equal employment rules up to speed with EU-wide regulations, warning the states that if they fail to do so, it could take legal action against them.

France, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands and Sweden were among the countries Thursday that received reasoned opinions chiding them for missing the December 2003 deadline for overhauling their employment laws. The commission also sent a formal notice to Germany.
