Defying Doubters, Coach IP Enforcement Takes No Prisoners

Law360, New York (July 29, 2013, 5:34 PM EDT) -- Last winter, a customer walked into a gift shop in Chicago’s Chinatown neighborhood and bought a name-brand handbag for $42.80. The handbag was a fake, and so was the customer.

Police watched from a surveillance area as the private investigator, hired by Coach Inc. as part of its campaign to combat counterfeiters, left with her $42.80 piece of evidence. The purchase would lead to the confiscation of 84 fake designer handbags and the filing of one very real lawsuit.
