ITC To Investigate Microphone Package Patent Complaints

Law360, Los Angeles (July 23, 2013, 6:22 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Tuesday it will investigate silicon microphone packages following a complaint by acoustic components maker Knowles Electronics accusing competitor GoerTek Inc. of importing patent-infringing silicon microphone packages used in headsets and earphones.

Last month, Knowles, a division of Dover Corp., claimed that several GoerTek products currently offered in the U.S. violate its patent-protected process for high-volume manufacturing of microphone packages. The products include earphones, earbuds, headsets and headphones.
