Cuomo Signature Sets Long Island Power Grid On New Course

Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Monday that puts New Jersey-based Public Service Electric & Gas Co. in the hot seat as the go-to business to manage Long Island's power grid and converts the troubled Long Island Power Authority largely into a debt-management operation.

Cuomo's signature comes after lawmakers in Albany overwhelmingly passed the measure, many of whose components were hammered together by the governor's investigative panel that spent the winter studying LIPA's failure to quickly get the lights back on after Superstorm Sandy struck in October....
