6th Circ. Sides With Ford In Insurers' Car Defect Suit

Law360, New York (July 24, 2013, 4:14 PM EDT) -- The Sixth Circuit on Wednesday upheld Ford Motor Co.'s win against two insurance companies claiming that a defect in a Lincoln Town Car started a fire that the insurers had to cover, ruling the lawsuit should be nixed because Tennessee law governed the dispute.

The appeals court refused to apply Michigan law to a suit brought by The Standard Fire Insurance Co. and Travelers Personal Security Insurance Co. to recoup their payouts for property damage caused by the fire.
