SAP Must Get Specific To Rescue IP Suit Against Pi-Net

Law360, San Francisco (July 24, 2013, 5:56 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge Wednesday partially tossed SAP America Inc.'s lawsuit seeking affirmation that it didn't infringe patent holder Pi-Net International Inc.'s online-banking patents, saying SAP must name at least one customer Pi-Net has threatened with legal action for the case to survive.

U.S. District Court Judge Phyllis Hamilton agreed with Pi-Net's argument that SAP's brief complaint wasn't specific enough, and ordered the business-software giant to amend its lawsuit to include the name of at least one customer Pi-Net has sued over the alleged infringement....
