Law360, New York (July 29, 2013, 2:47 PM EDT) -- Omnicom Group Inc. and Publicis Groupe SA announced the boldest move yet in the advertising industry's yearslong consolidation push on Sunday, combining in a “merger of equals” to form the world's largest mass marketing conglomerate.

The deal stands as the largest linkup of publicly traded companies in 2013, creating a new multinational company with 130,000 workers and a combined market value of $35.1 billion, according to the pair, which were previously the second- and third-largest advertising outfits by revenue.
