Sinclair Pays $985M For 8 TV Stations, Extending Buy-Up

Law360, New York (July 29, 2013, 3:25 PM EDT) -- Sinclair Broadcasting Group Inc. continued its spending spree Monday, announcing it would plunk down $985 million for a bundle of eight television stations from Allbritton Communications Co., including Washington, D.C.’s sought-after WJLA.

Under the transaction’s terms, Sinclair will take over seven ABC affiliates in top-100 markets spread across the East Coast and South plus a local cable news channel serving more than 2 million households in the Washington metropolitan area, the company said.
