Record Labels Hit Replay In Baidu Copyright Lawsuit

Law360, New York (February 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bolstered by a recent change in China's Internet copyright regulations, three global music labels have launched a lawsuit against China's biggest search engine, Baidu.com, for allegedly violating copyrights by showing links to pirated music.

Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group Corp. sued Baidu on Monday in Beijing, according to music industry lobbyist International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, which filed the suit on behalf of the music companies.
