Deals Rumor Mill: KKR, Accenture, Soros

By Karlee Weinmann (July 31, 2013, 2:50 PM EDT) -- Billionaire Li Ka-shing, who controls Hutchison Whampoa Ltd., is seeking between $3 billion and $4 billion for supermarket chain ParknShop up for sale, and private equity titan KKR & Co. could make a takeover play, Bloomberg reported late Tuesday. The New York firm is speaking with banks about financing for a potential deal, but has not yet decided to lob a bid. It has until an Aug. 16 deadline to submit an offer for the chain, one of Hong Kong's largest food retailers. If it wins over Hutchison with a multibillion-dollar bid, the deal would be KKR's largest in Asia — a market where it has looked to expand — blowing past its $1.8 billion acquisition of South Korea-based Oriental Brewing Co. in 2009....
