CMS To Vet All ACA Insurance Applications, Official Says

Law360, New York (August 01, 2013, 4:17 PM ET) -- All applicants for health insurance subsidies under the Affordable Care Act, not just a sample of applicants, will have their income verified under a new rule to ensure their eligibility and help prevent fraud, a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services official said Thursday.

According to Gary Cohen, the director of CMS’ Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, the rule will ensure all individual applicants for coverage through each ACA-mandated insurance exchange have their income verified before receiving any federal insurance subsidy for health coverage....
