Urban Outfitters Unable To Resolve Navajo Trademark Suit

Law360, New York (August 05, 2013, 1:31 PM ET) -- Attempts by Urban Outfitters Inc. and the Navajo Nation to resolve allegations that the clothing retailer has infringed the tribe's trademarks by selling apparel under the “Navajo” name have been unsuccessful, parties announced last week.

The Navajo Nation filed suit in New Mexico against Urban Outfitters last year, alleging infringement of trademarks related to the Native American Indian tribe and its symbols. In a July 29 court brief, both sides said they were unable to resolve the dispute after a court-ordered mediation failed.
