TV Unions Press 2nd Circ. To Revive YouTube IP Suit

Law360, New York (August 5, 2013, 7:40 PM EDT) -- Unions for workers in the TV, film and theater industries on Friday backed Viacom International Inc.'s attempt to revive its $1 billion copyright suit against YouTube Inc. in the Second Circuit, saying YouTube's "theft of copyrighted works" threatens their members' livelihoods.

The organizations representing musicians, directors, actors and backstage employees said YouTube's infringing displays of copyrighted content threatened the jobs and earnings of their mostly middle-class members and endangered the country's production of audio-visual art.
