Pa. DEP Shuts Down Gas Wastewater Facility After Spills

Law360, Philadelphia (August 6, 2013, 4:04 PM EDT) -- Citing spills and a series of other violations, Pennsylvania environmental regulators confirmed Tuesday they'd revoked the permit of an Indiana County gas drilling wastewater treatment facility and were spearheading efforts to remediate the site.

The state's Department of Environmental Protection said that Aquatic Synthesis Unlimited LLC had agreed to forfeit its permit along with a $1 million bond after a series of operational and financial snafus prevented its nearly 2-year-old facility from fully going online despite accepting nearly 1 million gallons hydraulic fracturing wastewater for treatment....
