Soros, Investors Inject $218M Into New Brazilian Telecom

Law360, New York (August 7, 2013, 6:32 PM EDT) -- Billionaire financier George Soros' hedge fund and a group of other investors have agreed to pile 500 million Brazilian reais ($218 million) into a new Brazilian telecommunications company, taking a foothold in a country hungry for high-speed wireless Internet, according to several Wednesday reports.

Per the deal, Soros Fund Management will cover $150 million of the new funds, with other unnamed international business partners covering the rest, according to reports by Reuters and the Wall Street Journal. The money will go to launch the 4G initiatives...
