D.C. Council Passes Mandatory Paid Sick Leave Bill

Law360, New York (February 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Washington, D.C., City Council voted 11-2 on Tuesday to approve the initial version of a bill that would require all city businesses to provide their workers with paid sick leave.

The bill, known as the “Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act,” would make D.C. only the second city in the U.S., after San Francisco, to have such a measure in place.
