BP Ordered To Fork Over $129M In Deepwater Claims Fees

Law360, New York (August 7, 2013, 7:54 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana federal court ordered BP PLC on Wednesday to cough up $129 million in fees to the administrator of its multibillion-dollar Deepwater Horizon oil spill settlement that the company said it was withholding until it received detailed documentation about the claims.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan said BP can't dodge its obligations and must fund the entire 2013 third-quarter of the court-supervised settlement program, or CSSP, finding that BP's demands for analysis, metrics and explanatory notes for every item in the budget request were unwarranted....
