UK Watchdog Admits Data Loss In BAE Bribery Probe

Law360, New York (August 8, 2013, 5:57 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors in the U.K. Serious Fraud Office accidentally lost 32,000 pages of documents and 81 audio tapes stemming from a now-closed foreign bribery investigation of defense contractor BAE Systems PLC, the agency revealed Thursday, though it said most of the data had since been recovered.

The embarrassing data loss, disclosed by the SFO in a statement, relates to the agency’s six-year probe of suspicious payments that BAE allegedly made to a businessman in efforts to win a contract to build a military-grade radar system for Tanzania....
