Verizon, Others Challenged Over Role In UK Spying Program

Law360, New York (August 9, 2013, 5:44 PM EDT) -- A U.K.-based privacy group on Thursday threatened to add Verizon Business, Vodafone Group PLC and five other major telecommunications providers to its lawsuit challenging the British government's surveillance tactics unless the companies publicly detailed their procedures for responding to mass interception requests.

Privacy International sent the pre-action letter to seven companies: Verizon Business, Vodafone, Level 3 Communications LLC, Global Crossing Ltd., Viatel Holding Ltd., Interoute Communications Ltd. and BT Group PLC.
