We Need A Cease-Fire In The EU-US Privacy War

Law360, New York (August 20, 2013, 11:42 AM ET) -- The European Union and U.S. offer the world two different models of how to protect personal privacy. The EU has escalated a disdain and occasional contempt for the U.S. model into a war of words that threatens the international cooperation needed to advance privacy and promote economic growth. Given the similarities in the concerns and principles on which the privacy frameworks are based on the opposite sides of the Atlantic, it is time to dial back the rhetoric and look at the facts.
