The Snowden Revelations’ Impact On Legal Practice

Law360, New York (August 14, 2013, 6:10 PM EDT) -- Revelations regarding the National Security Agency’s Internet and cellular surveillance activities may have implications not only for individual privacy rights but for commercial activities as well. Recently, for example, the French newspaper Le Monde reported that the revelations may interfere with European-based companies’ use of U.S.-based cloud-service providers.[1] European Union businesses may hesitate to (or be unable to) use the services of U.S.-based cloud-service providers given differing approaches to government surveillance in the different jurisdictions.
