Arco Agrees To $187M Superfund Cleanup Settlement

Law360, New York (February 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A BP Plc subsidiary has agreed to a $187 million Superfund settlement for the cleanup of sites along the Clark Fork River in southwestern Montana, bringing a tentative end to suits brought by both federal and state governments.

Atlantic Richfield Co. agreed to a consent decree in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday. The agreement is subject to court approval after a 60-day period for public comment.
