Republic Steel Faces $1.1M In OSHA Fines Over Fall Hazards

Law360, New York (August 14, 2013, 7:54 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration said Tuesday that it has slapped Ohio-based Republic Steel with proposed fines totaling more than $1.1 million for two dozen safety violations, adding that Republic has a history of failing to address fall hazards.

Of the 24 safety violations OSHA cited the company for, 15 were for willfully running afoul of the federal workplace safety watchdog's fall protection standards the company's Canton, Ohio, steelmaking plant, OSHA said.
