AFL-CIO Argues For Gov't Worker Age Claims In High Court

Law360, New York (August 14, 2013, 5:18 PM ET) -- The AFL-CIO on Friday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the Seventh Circuit's ruling that state and local government workers can bypass the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and sue for age bias under the Equal Protection Clause.

The high court agreed in March to hear Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's appeal of the Seventh Circuit's decision holding that state workers were allowed to bring age discrimination claims under the 14th Amendment, which created a split with several other circuits.
