Windsor No. 12-307, 570 U.S. ___, (June 26, 2013). The Supreme Court struck down this decision on broad equal protection grounds, finding that there is no legitimate reason for the federal government to discriminate against married couples based on their sexual orientation. Until now, U.S. immigration law did not allow U.S. citizens, permanent residents or non-immigrant visa holders to obtain American immigrant benefits for their same-sex spouses. Binational gay couples now have the same immigrant and non-immigrant visa rights as heterosexual married couples....
