Fla. Approves Plan For Troubled Miami Theater

Law360, Miami (August 21, 2013, 6:51 PM ET) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Tuesday approved Florida International University's plan to run a theater program out of Miami's historic Coconut Grove Playhouse, which is the target of a foreclosure action by local developers who say the theater conspired with the county and breached a development contract.

The university will partner with Miami-Dade County and local nonprofit production company GableStage to offer a theater program in the playhouse, which has been shuttered since 2006, according to the governor.
