Al Jazeera Sues AT&T For Dropping New US Channel

Law360, New York (August 21, 2013, 2:44 PM ET) -- Al Jazeera sued AT&T Inc. Tuesday after the telecommunications giant refused to carry the Qatar-based broadcaster's newly launched American news channel on its U-verse subscription TV service.

Al Jazeera America went live at 3 p.m., replacing former Vice President Al Gore's failed CurrentTV for many of the nation's pay television subscribers, but not on U-verse. The AT&T unit had said the day before that contract talks to carry the network had broken down.
