FDA Finds Drug Co. Clinical Tests Lack Diversity

Law360, New York (August 21, 2013, 3:53 PM EDT) -- Racial minorities tend to be underrepresented in clinical trials of drugs and devices, but that doesn't appear to be compromising the results of such testing, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday in a congressionally mandated report.

The analysis, required under last year's FDA user-fee law, examined data from 72 drug and device applications that won agency approval in 2011, and found that whites constituted a disproportionate number of study participants.
