Philly Sports Bar Chain Scores Win In 'Crab Fries' IP Row

Law360, Philadelphia (August 22, 2013, 3:10 PM ET) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Tuesday ruled in favor of popular Philadelphia-area sports bar chain Chickie's and Pete's when he declared that a long-standing rival had violated its trademarks by using a picture of a crab next to the word "fries" on menus.

U.S. District Senior Judge Berle Schiller concluded that the Philadelphia restaurant Tony’s Place, which has tangled with Chickie's and Pete's in the past over copyright issues, infringed on the company's "crab fries" trademark.
