NY City Planning OKs 3 Major Queens Developments

Law360, New York (August 22, 2013, 2:07 PM EDT) -- The New York City Planning Commission on Wednesday approved three major projects poised for development in Queens, including a controversial $3 billion redevelopment plan for the contaminated Willets Point site, a $1 billion Astoria apartment project and a residential proposal for the 5Pointz Art Center.

The full City Council will still have to vote on all three projects, but the Planning Commission approval pushes them over a major hurdle and brings Queens closer to welcoming nearly 4,000 new apartments, a major mall and 30,000 square feet...
