Chem Co. Says Worker Took Trade Secrets To Competitor

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 6:50 PM ET) -- Akzo Nobel Surface Chemistry LLC hit a former employee and rival Huntsman Petrochemical LLC with an unfair competition and trade secrets suit Friday, claiming the ex-worker disclosed confidential information about additives used to improve the effectiveness of pesticides after jumping ship for Huntsman.

Akzo's complaint, filed in Ohio federal court, targets Huntsman and research scientist Alan Stern, who Akzo says it employed from late 1998 through the beginning of 2003. It alleges unfair competition as well as misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential information.
