Former EPA Official Accused Of $900K Government Theft

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 7:56 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday charged a former high-ranking U.S. Environmental Protection Agency official with swiping nearly $900,000 from the agency over a 13-year period through undeserved salary, benefits and bonuses.

John C. Beale, who worked as a deputy assistant administrator in the EPA's Office of Air and Radiation, could face up to 10 years in jail in addition to financial penalties if convicted of stealing $886,186 worth of government property, the DOJ said.
