Insurance Group Joins No-Fault Law Appeal In NY High Court

Law360, New York (August 26, 2013, 6:58 PM EDT) -- New York's casualty insurance lobby won permission Thursday to wade into a state high court fight over the level of evidence an injured claimant must provide, after a cessation of medical treatment, in order to win a trial for damages for a “serious injury” under the state's no-fault auto insurance law.

The New York Insurance Association's filing comes in a personal injury case brought by Queens, N.Y., resident Nandkumar Ramkumar, who claims he sustained knee and back injuries in a livery car accident in 2007....
