8th Circ. Calls Mayo Clinic's $1.9M Fee Award 'Suspect'

Law360, New York (August 27, 2013, 7:47 PM ET) -- The Eighth Circuit on Tuesday affirmed a jury's verdict in favor of the Mayo Clinic in a dispute with one of its former doctors over the dissemination of proprietary language processing software, this while vacating the clinic's “suspect” $1.9 million attorneys' fees award.

The appeals court said it was concerned that the sizable award Mayo is seeking against Dr. Peter L. Elkin is not supported by billing documents and other materials the group has submitted to the court.
