St. Pete, Fla. Residents Vote To Cancel $50M Pier Project

Law360, Miami (August 28, 2013, 1:51 PM ET) -- St. Petersburg, Fla. voters on Tuesday soundly rejected a $50 million contract to rebuild the city's pier, sending the City Council back to look for other options for the now-shuttered pier.

Residents voted 63 percent in favor of canceling the deal to build the controversial figure-eight design, known as The Lens, that was presented by Los Angeles-based Michael Maltzan Architecture and approved by the City Council in August 2010.
