Felons Endangering FDA Approvals: Republican Study

Law360, New York (February 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has failed to remove criminals from the drug regulatory process and has risked the health of countless lives, according to a staff report issued Monday by House Republicans.

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, released the report, which finds that the FDA has rarely used its authority to debar companies and individuals who have been convicted of crimes related to the drug approval process.
