Microsoft, Google Press On With Surveillance Data Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (August 30, 2013, 9:38 PM ET) -- After talks with government officials broke down Friday, Microsoft Corp. and Google Inc. are pressing forward with a lawsuit seeking the right to publicly release data on government surveillance of their users, according to a blog post written by Microsoft's general counsel.

The two tech companies went through several rounds of negotiations with the government over whether they can disclose to the public data about the information they give to the government under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith wrote.
