Wachtell, Simpson Thacher Lead On $130B Verizon Deal

Law360, New York (September 2, 2013, 7:02 PM EDT) -- Verizon Communications Inc. will acquire Vodafone Group PLC's 45 percent stake in Verizon Wireless in a $130 billion deal struck over the holiday weekend, ending a decade-long waiting game and heaping huge fees on more than a dozen law firms and banks.

Verizon is paying $58.9 billion in cash and the rest in stock and other side deals. It's the third-largest M&A deal in history, according to Thomson Reuters data, surpassed only by Vodafone's 2000 acquisition of Mannesmanns and AOL and Time Warner Inc.'s 2001 merger....
