Nokia, Verizon Deals Push Telecom M&A To 7-Year High

Law360, New York (September 03, 2013, 7:12 PM ET) -- Back-to-back megadeals for Verizon Wireless and Nokia Corp. have pushed telecom dealmaking to its highest levels since 2006, a global surge likely to continue as wireless giants jockey for spectrum and scale.

Verizon Communications Inc. struck a long-awaited deal over Labor Day to buy out Vodafone Group PLC's 45 percent stake in Verizon Wireless for $130 billion. And on Monday, Microsoft Corp. announced the acquisition of Nokia's smartphone unit for $7.2 billion.
