Texas Chief Justice Says He'll Resign In October

Law360, Dallas (September 3, 2013, 2:14 PM EDT) -- After more than a dozen years serving the state’s highest court, Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson will step down from the bench Oct. 1, he announced Tuesday.

Chief Justice Jefferson, who has served in the court's top spot since 2004, is highly respected by lawyers across the state, who on Tuesday praised his leadership of the court, scholarship and commitment to serving the public. He said he has not yet decided what he will do next.
