ITC To Probe Acer, Belkin, Others Over Flash Memory Chips

Law360, New York (September 04, 2013, 5:10 PM ET) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Wednesday it will investigate claims that Acer Inc., Belkin International Inc. and others are violating trade laws by importing consumer electronics that incorporate flash memory chips that violate Spansion Inc. patents.

The commission will investigate Spansion's allegations that its rival, Taiwan's Macronix International Co. Ltd., is manufacturing patent-infringing flash memory chips that are being incorporated in downstream electronics produced by Acer and others. The accused devices include wireless routers, laptops and video game consoles.
