Pa. GOP Ducks Consultant's $1M Marketing Contract Suit

Law360, Philadelphia (September 5, 2013, 3:48 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania appeals court ruled in a published decision Thursday that the Republican caucus of the state Senate was due sovereign immunity from a suit accusing the group of improperly terminating its $1.2 million consulting contract with Precision Marketing Inc.

An en banc panel of the Commonwealth Court granted summary judgment in favor of the caucus, concluding that it was part of the Senate and, consequently, part of the state, which holds sovereign immunity and cannot be sued.
