EPA Quietly Kills Chemical Safety Rules

Law360, New York (September 9, 2013, 5:24 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday withdrew a pair of draft chemical regulations that were awaiting Office of Management and Budget approval, including a measure that would have placed the controversial synthetic compound bisphenol A on a chemicals of concern list.

The proposals had called for adding nine chemicals to a list of dangerous substances and preventing health and safety study data for new chemicals from being classified as confidential, but they have now been quashed by the EPA.
