Lloyd's Looks To Dodge AT&T, Alcatel-Lucent Asbestos Suits

Law360, New York (September 9, 2013, 2:19 PM EDT) -- Certain underwriters at Lloyd’s of London on Friday asked a New York state judge to find they have no duty to defend or indemnify AT&T Inc. and Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc. in litigation over alleged asbestos-related illnesses.

According to Lloyd’s, AT&T and Alcatel-Lucent have been named as defendants in hundreds of alleged asbestos bodily injury claims, dating from the 1990s, brought by individuals — including former employees — claiming injury from exposure to asbestos in products manufactured, distributed, sold or supplied by them.
