Shearman Reps Western Digital On $685M Virident Buy

Law360, New York (September 9, 2013, 3:28 PM EDT) -- California computer hardware manufacturing conglomerate Western Digital Corp. has agreed to buy venture capital-backed flash storage company Virident Systems Inc. for $685 million in cash, the companies announced Monday.

Western Digital subsidiary HGST will acquire Milpitas, Calif.-based Virident, which makes storage devices for the cloud computing and enterprise software industries. The deal has an enterprise value of roughly $645 million.

Virident is backed by financial commitments from a group of venture capital firms, including Artiman Management LLC, Sequoia Capital, Globespan Capital Partners and Mitsui & Co....
