DOD Must Improve Oversight Of Anti-Corrosion Projects: GAO

Law360, Los Angeles (September 9, 2013, 7:19 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has prodded the U.S. Department of Defense to strengthen oversight of its projects to reduce the effects of corrosion on military equipment, saying the Pentagon's reporting on the effectiveness of such projects has been erratic over the past several years.

In a report released Monday, the GAO noted that the Pentagon doesn't have complete information about the benefits of some of the 88 anti-corrosion projects — totaling about $63 million — that it funded from 2005 to 2010.
