US To Spend $44B On Space Launch Activity, GAO Says

Law360, New York (September 10, 2013, 5:22 PM EDT) -- The federal government will need about $44 billion over the next five years to develop, procure and support the launch of satellites and spacecraft into orbit, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a report released Monday.

The report is the initial step in a larger GAO effort to examine impediments facing government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense and NASA in producing government vehicles and launch services, the GAO said.
