EU Backs Greater Ukraine Trade Ties Over Russian Pressure

Law360, New York (September 11, 2013, 7:42 PM EDT) -- European Union officials on Wednesday vowed support for Ukraine and other former Soviet countries seeking to strengthen trade ties with Europe, even in the face of pressure from countries such as Russia.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said in his annual state of the union speech to the European Parliament that the EU would not tolerate retaliation against Kiev and other governments looking to deepen their economic connections with Europe.
